The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends "source removal" cleaning as the most effective method of cleaning air ventilation systems. The system is placed under negative pressure, through the use of a specialized powerful vacuum.

While the vacuum draws air through the system, various tools are inserted into the return and supply registers to dislodge contaminants and debris. The powerful vacuum pulls the contaminants out of the ducts, removing them from the system and your home. The final steps are to clean the registers, plenum, furnace, heat exchanger, evaporator coil, condensate drain pan, and blower wheel.

Clean systems offer improved air quality. Clean systems also have a longer life span, operate more efficiently and are less likely to malfunction.
